WD Attends Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce Corporate Veterans Roundtable Regarding Development of Veteran Resource Group Programming

As employers continue to recognize the value of their veteran employees, many actively seek to recruit and retain veteran talent to fill critical needs in their workforce. To facilitate this, many organizations invest in establishing a veteran-friendly culture through veteran employee affinity programs. On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce hosted a Corporate Veterans Roundtable at the Franklin campus of Northwestern Mutual Insurance regarding the development of such veteran-oriented employee resource or affinity groups, commonly referred to as ERGs. Members of the panel included representatives from ERGs at Northwestern Mutual Insurance, Miller/Coors Brewing, and PNC Bank, and the panel was moderated by a representative from Baird. The panel shared examples of programming and development utilized in their respective organizations, and also responded to questions from attendees regarding best practices for developing similar programs.

The panel discussion was followed by a presentation from the Wisconsin Veterans Network regarding the VetsNet resources available to veterans in Southeast Wisconsin, as well as its efforts to expand to other areas of the state.

WVCC's Corporate Veterans Roundtable is dedicated to supporting organizations as they create, grow, and sustain their corporate veteran resource programs through sharing of best practices, guidance and mentorship, and collaborative approaches to supporting veterans.
